GLOUCESTERSHIRE’S plans to turn the County Ground into a 20,000 seat stadium has been given the go-ahead by Bristol City Council.

The application for the redevelopment of the ground in Bristol was approved at a meeting of the Development Control (North) committee yesterday, meaning the club will be able to meet the standards set by the ECB to host international cricket matches in the future.

The plan includes the provision of a world class media centre, improved conferencing and hospitality facilities, upgrades to the BS7 fitness club including a swimming pool and enabling development in the form of 350 student accommodation units.
