KNUTSFORD in Bloom has announced its plans for 2010.
The voluntary residents’ group, set up in September 2009, and backed by Knutsford Town Council and Cheshire East Council, aims to create a floral Knutsford and encourage local sustainable planting projects in and around the town. It hopes to enhance the look of Knutsford for residents and bring in more visitors.
The group plans to improve the floral displays in several ways by moving the town centre planters to more prominent positions with better planting. More planters are also planned. Businesses will be approached to help by contributing to floral displays, ordering a hanging basket or sponsorship of planters. It is also looking at planted areas and roundabouts in the town, and hopes to begin work on a meadow behind St Cross Church in August.
Competitions for this year include; the school Knutsford in Bloom logo competition, the residents’ front garden competition and the business floral display competition, which will be judged in July. The group has also entered North West in Bloom 2010.
Businesses can hang baskets or plant planters, volunteers can keep floral displays and green areas tidy and watered, or raise cuttings or seeds for planting, fundraise or make donations.
To donate make any cheques payable to Knutsford in Bloom, and send to; Knutsford in Bloom, c/o Knutsford Town Council, Council Offices, Toft Road, Knutsford, WA16 6TA.
