A NEW epilespy centre in Glasgow has been given a £50,000 donation.
The money will fund one of 12 bedrooms for patients receiving treatment at the William Quarrier Scottish Epilepsy Centre.
The £6.4million centre, which is based near the Institute Of Neurological Sciences at the Southern General Hospital, will begin admitting in-patients on April 15.
It will offer hi-tech diagnosis and assessment of epilepsy, as well as placements for trainee neurologists.
The £50,000 was granted by the Incorporation Of Coopers Of Glasgow, part of Trades House Of Glasgow, a long-standing supporter of Quarriers.
Paul Moore, Quarriers' chief executive, said: "The Incorporation of Coopers of Glasgow is a long-standing supporter of Quarriers and we are delighted to receive this significant contribution towards the centre."
About 54,000 people in Scotland have epilepsy.
Bill Scott, chairman of the William Quarrier Scottish Epilepsy Centre Fundraising Appeal, said: "The centre will do so much to ensure people with epilepsy in Scotland and further afield will benefit from some of the most advanced assessment and diagnosis technology in the world."
