£6m housing boost for city's East End

WORK has started on a £6 million project to improve Glasgow's East end.

The first phase will see the development of 50 new houses in the Gallowgate, with front and back gardens, as well as 12 cottage flats, six of which will have wheelchair access.

As reported in the Evening Times, the nearby Bluevale and Whitevale multi-storey flats, which at 298ft are the tallest residential buildings in the city, will be demolished.
