THE search for a missing Glasgow woman who disappeared more than a week ago has been stepped up.

Lucia Piacentini was last seen at her home in Cathcart in Glasgow's South Side at around 6.45pm last on Sunday, July 28.

In the wake of her "completely out of character" disappearance, a city-wide campaign was launched by the 44-year-old's friends and family.

Posters of the pharmacist have been plastered in parks and on lampposts across the city.

Ms Piacentini's sister Teresa organised a search with a large group of volunteers on Saturday.

Around 70 people gathered at Queen's Park, in the South Side, to give out leaflets which had a picture of Ms Piacentini on them.

Teresa Piacentini said: "There's been lots of offers of support so we're galvanising support from our friends and people we don't know as well.

"Because it's difficult for people to know how to manage their support, we've brought people together today and we're separating out into small groups and we're covering different parts of Glasgow that we've covered already but with more manpower. We really just want to raise more awareness.

"We want to get the message out to Lucia to come home; that we miss her, we need her, we love her, it's safe to come home and we want her back."

It is hoped the photograph will jog someone's memory.
