A BAFTA FOR THATCHER! MERYL STREEP's iron lady EARNS a PREMIER TITLE BUT THE ARTIST CLOCKS UP a MAGNIFICENT SEVEN

Silent film The Artist was the big talking point when it won seven awards at the Baftas, including Best Film, Leading Actor and Best Director.

The film – a homage to the silent era of Hollywood – swept the board and the only low point was seeing its leading lady Berenice Bejo lose out in the Outstanding Actress award to Meryl Streep.
