A DOCUMENTARY is set to reveal what Scotland's National Bard really looked like.

In Search of Robert Burns follows actor David Hayman as he finds out new details about the globally renowned Scots poet.

Professor Caroline Wilkinson and her team at Dundee University, will use state-of-the-art forensic technology, to create a life-size model of Burns' head.

While experts work on the reconstruction, Mr Hayman delves into the world of Robert Burns.

He finds out how Burns' upbringing, education, and romantic spirit, transformed him from a farmer to world famous literary figure.

Mr Hayman, a Burns enthusiast, said: "A fascinating and extraordinary journey into the heart of a truly exceptional man, I loved every minute of it. I hope our audience will enjoy it as much as I did.

"I am a lover of Burns, but I discovered something new about him every day on this film, it is a little gem."

The conclusion of the documentary reveals the newly-constructed head of Scotland's beloved bard.
