A POPULAR West End bar has changed hands in a seven figure deal.
Brel – Glasgow's only Belgian-themed bar and restaurant – has been sold to two city businessmen.
Oli Norman and Stephen White, who also own Sloans bar in the city centre, say they plan to give Brel a £300,000 refurbishment.
The bar is located in Ashton Lane, just off Byres Road.
Mr Norman, founder of the Dada PR agency and the itison.com discount website site, said the bar would lose its Belgian identity.
He said: "It was named after the Belgian musician Jacques Brel and was right for the time when it opened 15 years ago.
"But Glasgow has moved on and it is time for a change. We will keep a nod to the Belgian theme, mussels and great beer were what put Brel on the map.
"We'll be keeping everything that makes the place great while injecting some much needed love and attention."
The building features a conservatory, restaurant, bar, and an outdoor beer garden.
Mr Norman added: "We are going to change the whole beer garden, light it up at night, and make it beautiful."
He added that new menus would be introduced this week and the first phase of refurbishment would be complete within a month.
