Proposals to punish human traffickers and establish a service for victims have taken a step forward.

Labour MSP Jenny Marra has secured cross-party support for her Human Trafficking Member's Bill to create an anti-human trafficking strategy.

Members' Bills require the support of 18 MSPs from three parties to get a hearing in Parliament. Ms Marra is backed by 22 Labour colleagues, Conservative Margaret Mitchell, Liberal Democrats Alison McInnes and Jim Hume, two Green MSPs and an independent.
