BUCKETS of play sand are being given away free.
Community activists in Calton have more than 10 tons of it after creating a local summer beach with a £9500 cash donation to help locals celebrate the Commonwealth Games.
Betty Cosgrove of the Calton Area Association said: "We had a lot of fun with our beach, and now we want to give the sand away to community groups, children's nurseries and even parents. A number of adults have already taken some to create sand pits for their children."
Those interested should contact officials at the local Calton Heritage and Learning Centre.
