THESE youngsters are heading off on an adventure of a lifetime.
Teenagers from Wishaw left Glasgow Airport for Arctic Greenland yesterday morning.
The 10 Scottish pupils will undertake a 10-day 100 mile Arctic expedition with the charity, The Polar Academy.
The pupils, all aged between 15 and17 and from St Aidan's High School and Coltness High School, both in Wishaw will be supported by expert guides including expedition leader Craig Mathieson, founder of the charity and one of Scotland's greatest living explorer.
The pupils, who will each need to haul their own 40kg sledge across sea ice and through the wild interior, are the first to have been selected for The Polar Academy.
During the expedition the team will undertake research for the European Space Agency.
