A GLASGOW library dedicated to women will celebrate its 21st birthday by holding an exhibition showcasing the work of 21 artists.
The Glasgow Women's Library specially commissioned the artists to create limited-edition fine art prints to be included in their exhibit '21 Revolutions: Two Decades of Changing Minds at Glasgow Women's Library'.
Those who have contributed are among Scotland's most exciting women artists such as Claire Barclay, who has show in Tate Britain and represented Scotland in the Venice Biennale, and Turner Prize nominees Karla Black and Lucy Skaer.
Their work will take inspiration from the items and artefacts in its library, archive and museum collections such as campaign bad-ges, knitting patterns, suffragette memorabilia, album covers, recipe books, feminist newsletters and books.
As part of the same programme, the library has also commissioned 21 writers, such as Louise Welsh, Liz Lochhead, Denise Mina, Jackie Kay and AL.Kennedy, to produce texts inspired by the collection.
Library co-founder, Dr Adele Patrick said: "This programme will celebrate the richness of our collections, while using them as a catalyst for new work."
It will preview on September 21 at the Centre for Contemporary Art in Glasgow from 6pm to 9pm, then run from until October 13, excluding Sundays and Mondays.
