TOGETHER they have 3300 years of service.

And now each one of Cordia's dedicated employees is to be rewarded with a long service medal.

From lollipop men and dinner ladies to home carers and janitors, these staff are the workers who keep Glasgow ticking over.

A total of 132 will be honoured for clocking up 25 years of service.

David Melvin, managing director of the facilities management and home care services firm, said: "The long service awards are a wonderful opportunity for us to give thanks to the hardworking staff, all of whom have shown dedication and commitment to the company for the last quarter of a century.

"This year, an incredible 132 employees will be receiving awards for a combined total of 3300 years of service, and it's fantastic to have a ceremony to thank them for their devotion to the company. Our people are Glasgow's backbone.

"They prepare nutritious meals for Glasgow's school pupils every day and help our children cross the street safely.

"They care for our elderly and vulnerable citizens and clean and maintain schools across the city.

"The long service awards are a great way for the board and senior management to thank our colleagues for their contin-ued commitment, as they are crucial to the success of our organisation."

Medals will be presented by councillor Mohammed Razaq, chairman of Cordia.

The long serving staff will also receive a day off work and are treated to a three-course lunch to mark having started with the firm in 1989.

Mr Razaq said: "I am honoured to be part of an organisation which has such a wide array of hardworking and dedicated staff. The Cordia team of employees serve our city day in, day out and this event recognises their efforts over the years.

"The long service awards are a chance to reward our devoted workforce.

"I would personally like to congratulate everyone who is receiving an award and thank them for their fantastic service, not just for Cordia but for the city of Glasgow."
