THE BBC will be sending its top sports and celebrity presenters to Glasgow for its coverage of the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Gary Lineker and Clare Balding will broadcast live from Celtic Park and Hampden for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Games and provide commentary throughout the 11 days of competition.

Gabby Logan, Hazel Irvine and John Inverdale have also been drafted in to present the BBC's multi-channel coverage.

Popular TV shows such as BBC Breakfast, A Question Of Sport, The One Show and Radio 2's Ken Bruce Show will be aired from the Beeb's Scottish HQ at Pacific Quay during the Games.

Bruce Malcolm, head of Games coverage at the BBC, said: "As you would expect, BBC Sport will provide the kind of coverage it did so brilliantly during the Olympics.

"But we also want to join in the year-long celebrations in Glasgow and throughout the rest of Scotland by bringing our audiences a string of live events, concerts and Commonwealth-themed programmes."

Coverage will start in the morning and run through to a late-night highlights programme with Clare Balding.

BBC3's schedule will be devoted to live action and Radio 5 will broadcast from Glasgow every day of the Games, from July 23 to August 3.

Planned documentaries include Clydebuilt: The Ships That Made The Commonwealth and Commonwealth City, which will look at the regeneration of Glasgow's East End.

Another hour-long show, presented by Glasgow singer Lulu, will explore a musical map of the city.
