MISS Glasgow pledged her support to national charity Kidney Research UK and aims to raise as much cash as possible.

Merissa Lennon, who was joined by Miss Edinburgh, Steph Hunter, met patients, who are undergoing dialysis treatment, at Yorkhill Hospital.

Around 1500 people in Glasgow are currently on dialysis with 700 waiting for a transplant, partly due to shortages of available organs.

It comes as hundreds of people prepare to take part in a new event for Kidney Research UK.

On September 22, a seven-mile "Bridge Walk" along Glasgow's Clydeside, will take place to raise cash for the charity.

The event's route will take in nine of the city's Clyde bridges.

The Evening Times has linked up with Kidney Research UK to become media partner for the inaugural sponsored walk, which is aiming to attract around 500 entrants and raise £50,000.
