THE owner of a beer delivery firm is to lose his licence to operate HGVs after falling foul of Scotland's Traffic Commissioner.

Duncan McKee is facing a 12-month dis-qualification following a ruling by commiss-ioner Joan Aitken that he failed to demonstrate his financial standing.

Ms Aitken also ruled that McKee's licence had operated at "less than the bare minimum".

Vehicles had failed annual tests, drivers had committed offences relating to their driving duties, including not taking the correct rests, and had not kept the required records.

The regulator said she did not believe sole trader Mr McKee, based in Glenmavis, North Lanarkshire, was capable of maintaining operating standards, including keeping vehicles roadworthy.

Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency examiners reported that 31 prohibitions had been issued to vehicles with defects since December 2008.
