Bid to get bands on song

A training programme aimed at helping young bands develop song- writing and find gig venues was being launched today.

Hear Glasgow! begins a month-long series of events and is aimed at giving young people across the city access to quality music opportunities.

Gigging musicians and industry insiders will gather at the City Halls to mentor young talent.

Events during the programme will include a songwriting session on Wednesday, 9am-4pm, with gigging musicians from various musical backgrounds.

Hear Glasgow! will culminate in a showcase event on September 28, 9am-11pm, at City Halls.

There will also be a chance to perform at an event in the Old Fruitmarket in the evening. Tickets are free. See www.yrock.co.uk/ignition
