Thousands of tickets were snapped up for his seven solo gigs being staged at the Clyde Auditorium in Glasgow in October.

The comedian will now appear at the SECC Clyde Auditorium on October 29 and 30, adding two new shows to the original schedule.

A spokeswoman said: "We are not surprised that ticket sales have been flying for Billy's dates at the Clyde Auditorium.

"The last time he was here in 2009 all ten shows sold out in record time and it looks like this is likely to be repeated. We can't wait to welcome him back to Glasgow."

It was the fastest ever sell- out for a comedy act.

The Big Yin, who hasn't toured Scotland since then, is now taking his High Horse Tour around the country. Fans started queueing outside the Music Hall in Aberdeen from 4am yesterday and within an hour of the box office opening every ticket for two shows had been sold.

Elsewhere there were queues at tour venues in Edinburgh and Dundee, where demand also triggered online ticket payment delays.

The 71-year-old comedian suffers from Parkinson's disease and was recently given the all clear after treatment for prostate cancer.
