VILLAGERS are to get the chance to shape their community.
They are to be urged to back plans for a development trust for Bishopton, Renfrewshire, at a time when defence giant BAE Systems wants to double the size of the community by building thousands of new homes on the former 2400-acre Royal Ordnance munitions site.
A public meeting is to be held at Ingliston Country Club next Wednesday at 7pm.
Scott Wilson, chairman of the shadow trust board, said: "This is an exciting opportunity for people in Bishopton to shape their future community. We've consulted local groups, individuals, businesses and politicians to find out their views."
He claims a local trust could create new sports facilities, community woodlands and gardens.
