FIRE crews were called to a busy shopping centre today amid a blaze scare.

Fire engines rushed to Silverburn in the South Side of the city at 12.05pm on Thursday.

Shopping centre bosses said the ‘back-of-house’ fire broke out in restaurant, Prezzo.

The mall is now trading as normal.

A Silverburn spokeswoman said: "We can confirm that emergency services were called to Prezzo earlier today in relation to a back-of-house fire.

“We carried out an immediate evacuation of the surrounding area, which has now reopened and is trading normally.

“Nobody was hurt during the incident and emergency services have now vacated the premises."

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "We received a report of a fire at Silverburn shopping centre in Glasgow at 12.05pm today."
