POLICE searching for a Glasgow student who disappeared more than a month ago have found a body.

Fanqi Zhai, 25, was last seen by his partner leaving his home in Harbour Terrace, Partick, on Thursday, March 27.

Police Scotland confirmed a man's body was recovered from the River Clyde, near to Renfrew, at around 3.30pm on Tuesday. The 25-year-old was a student at Glasgow Caledonian University.

A police spokeswoman said: "A formal identification is still to be confirmed. However it is believed to be Mr Zhai.

"A post mortem examination will take place to confirm the identity and establish the exact cause of death. There appear to be no suspicious circumstances and family members have been informed."

Meanwhile, officers are trying to trace a 42 year-old man who has been missing from Greenock since Tuesday.

James Long, 42, was seen in the Town Centre at midday on that afternoon. There was another possible sighting of him at around 2pm heading towards the Greenock Cut Nature Reserve Visitors Centre near to Loch Thom.

He is described as white, of stocky build, 6 ft tall, with short brown hair, clean shaven and wears glasses. It is believed he was wearing black polo top and black bottoms.

Despite a search there have been no further sightings or contact from James.
