SHOPPING centre bosses gave a generous gift to young people who had been homeless.

Chiefs at intu Braehead gave each of the 23 residents, at the Blue Triangle Housing Association flats at Bruce Court, Gallowhill and Argyle Street, Paisley a £25 gift card along with several large boxes of food donated by staff at the mall.

Blue Triangle is a registered charity providing supported accommodation for vulnerable young people between the ages of 16 and 24, who would otherwise be homeless. The charity also provides help in finding jobs and gives young people the confidence and skills to set up in a home of their own.

Chief executive of Blue Triangle (Glasgow), Fiona Stringfellow said: "This is a fantastic gesture from intu Braehead as many of the young people have no families they can go to at this time of year.

"The gift cards and the donation of food makes a real difference to their lives at this time of year.

"I can't put into words how grateful we are and how great it is that people from the shopping centre have shown how much they care."

General manager at intu Braehead, Gary Turnbull said: "We received a telephone call from Blue Triangle asking if we could help in any way with a donation of some kind.

"And when I discovered the great work they do with vulnerable young people and how hard it is for them at this time of year, we decided to give everyone a gift card and a supply of food from our staff, who were very generous with their donations."
