A GLASGOW mother who has battled breast cancer for 12 years enjoyed a fabulous festive makeover.
Marion Morrow, 45, from Cambuslang, won a nationwide competition organised by Foxy Bingo after being nominated by her mum, also Marion.
Marion senior said: "It's hard to discover your daughter has breast cancer.
"I'll never forget the day she was diagnosed.
"It's been tough for her ever since, but she just keeps fighting."
Marion was diagnosed with breast cancer after she injured herself in a fall.
She said: "I was up in the loft and lost my footing, and the next day I found a lump the size of a golf ball.
"The doctor sent me straight to hospital and I got the diagnosis - we were all stunned.
"I had an operation to remove the lump and 22 lymph nodes, followed by six horrible months of chemotherapy when I lost all my hair."
Reconstruction surgery followed and Marion admits she struggled to cope with the stress of her illness.
But she got through it, she says, thanks to the support of her mum and her two sons Robert, now 23, and Rhys, who is 17, plus husband Steven and stepson Bradley, who is 10.
And she was delighted to win the makeover, at Debenhams in Glasgow, as part of the competition.
She said: "It was such a lovely experience.
"I got the chance to buy an outfit and have my make-up done and it was really relaxing. I felt like a star for the day."
This is the sixth year in a row Foxy Bingo has supported Breast Cancer Campaign in its efforts to carry out lifesaving research projects.
