US President Barack Obama's favourite burger joint is to open another diner in Glasgow … months after it launches its first in the city.

Fast food firm Five Guys had already announced it would be opening a restaurant in St Vincent Street in November.

Now it has revealed it will also launch at the Silverburn shopping centre and will be serving up its trademark burger and chips to shoppers, possibly from January.

The chain has had US foodies queueing out the door since the first restaurant opened in Washington DC in 1986.

Almost 30 years on and there are more than 1000 eateries across America.

There is a restaurant near Leicester Square, London, where diners regularly stand outside waiting for a table because it is usually jam-packed.

The latest Five Guys Glasgow branch to be revealed will be in Silverburn's £20million leisure extension, where shoppers will be able to sample specialities including burgers garnished with American cheese or bacon.

The new 3,637 sq ft restaurant will also be serving up kosher hot dogs and sandwiches.

David Pierotti, general manager of the South Side mall, said: "Five Guys is a fantastic addition to the line-up of eateries announced for the new development.

"This internationally renowned brand will add to the strong dining mix available at the mall."

Five Guys property director Richard Collier said: "Silverburn was identified immediately as we planned the expansion of the brand in Scotland.

"It is a highly successful destination popular with consumers from throughout the region."

The extension also includes Carluccio's, Zizzi and Cosmo eateries.
