THIS was the dramatic scene after a car burst into flames in a Glasgow street.

Emergency services launched a major operation and set up an exclusion zone after the incident Govanhill.

Crews fought to bring the flames under control after the alarm was raised at around 3.30pm yesterday.

It is not clear how the fire started.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said: "Crews were called to a report of a car fire in Allison Street, Govanhill."

It is understood no-one was injured.

Meanwhile, residents had to be evacuated from a tenement block as firefighters battled a blaze in a church next door.

Crews found a "well-developed fire" in the church when they arrived at the scene in Crossloan Road in the Govan area of Glasgow at around 10.20pm last night.

More than 30 firefighters were involved in tackling the blaze, which broke through the roof of the building.

A four-storey tenement next to the blazing building had to be evacuated, and three residents were provided with emergency accommodation overnight.

Other residents in the area were advised to keep their windows and doors closed due to the smoke
