THE Prime Minister told an audience in Glasgow that Scotland in Britain can forge a future of increased international trade and investment.

Speaking at the Commonwealth Games Business Conference at Glasgow University, David Cameron said Scotland has been at the heart of inventions and trade throughout the history of the United Kingdom.

He said: "The Commonwealth has a great history of trade.

"The UK with Scotland at its heart has a great history of trade too. The country of Alexander Graham Bell and of Adam Smith and textile merchant Alexander Chalmers.

"Together I believe we can have a great future, too."

Mr Cameron said while the athletes aim for gold medals at the Commonwealth Games, he would be using the Commonwealth networks to boost trade and attract inward investment in UK and Scottish companies.

He said: "For us, the legacy won't just be measured in medals won or records broken, but in young lives improved, deals done, businesses boosted and jobs created."
