Cancer charity's fight gets Sir Alex's backing

FOOTBALL leged Sir Alex Ferguson is backing a charity that helps people with the disease which claimed the lives of his parents.

The Manchester United boss, known as The Govanor due to his birthplace, joined the 15th anniversary celebrations of the Scottish office for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation in Sir Alex's home town of Glasgow.

"This is a cause which is very close to my heart," Sir Alex said.

Lung cancer is behind most cancer deaths in Scotland, killing 4000 people a year.
