A MAN who grew a crop of cannabis plants in his garden shed is to be stripped of £35,000 under Proceeds of Crime laws.

Morris Wyper, 39, from Shotts in Lanarkshire, was made the subject of a confiscation order at Hamilton Sheriff Court.

Wyper previously pled guilty to drug offences and was sentenced to 240 hours' community service on January 14 last year.

In October 2011 police found cannabis plants growing in a wooden shed which had been hidden from view by screens.

Police found ten fully grown plants, 16 plants in growing trays and 24 seedlings. The value of the plants was estimated at £8500.

Wyper was unable to legally account for over £45,000 of his income and a confiscation order was made for his available assets, which total £35,000.
