Teresa Docherty allegedly failed to put a regular cleaning schedule in place while managing the Whitefield Lodge Home in Lennoxtown, Dunbartonshire.

A hearing of the Nursing and Midwifery Council was told the home was so dirty that furniture, sheets and equipment were stained with faeces, and the upper floors of the building stank of urine.

The Care Inspectorate was alerted to the conditions by an anonymous phone call.

Docherty denies the charges against her relating to poor infection control and cleaning, inadequate record keeping and staff supervision and poor management of medication.

The hearing will resume on July 22.
