POLICE are reviewing CCTV footage around Loch Lomond in the hunt for a pensioner missing from Drumchapel.

Ronald Thompson, 70, left his home in Fettercairn Avenue at around 3pm Monday afternoon when he got into his car, a silver Hyndai i30 and drove off.

Extensive inquiries are being carried out in an effort to trace Mr Thompson. However, police have so far been unable to trace him.

He often visited the Loch Lomond and Luss areas and officers are reviewing CCTV images as part of the ongoing inquiry to try and locate him.

His family and police are becoming increasingly concerned. Police Scotland said he had never gone missing before and it was unlike him not to be in touch with his wife and family.

Mr Thompson is described as white, 5ft 10ins, with a slim build and short grey hair.

Inspector Mandy Rorrison, from Glasgow North West Police Office, said: "We are becoming increasingly concerned for Mr Thompson's safety and wellbeing. He is a devoted husband and has never gone missing before - the fact that his family has not heard from him is extremely worrying.

"I am appealing to the public for their help and assistance to trace him and to get in touch if they have any information. If you have seen him or have any knowledge as to his whereabouts please contact us - the safety and wellbeing of Mr Thompson remains a priority."

Anyone with information on Mr Thompson should contact Glasgow North West Police Office on 0141 532 3654.

Meanwhile, the family of a man who vanished two weeks ago have not given up hope in the search for him.

Celtic fan John Murphy disappeared near his Dennistoun home on Tuesday May 12, around 7am.

The dad-of-five was seen on Duke Street near his usual bus stop, but has not been spotted since.

His son, also named John, has been working tirelessly with his other siblings and relatives to try and trace his dad, and said it has been a "very difficult time" for the family.

Despite a widespread social media campaign, and an appeal at a Celtic game before thousands of fans, John said the trail has gone cold.

The 24-year-old said: "It's really difficult, we've got nothing else at the moment.

"We have nothing apart from the sighting that morning on Duke Street...We're taking a stab in the dark as to where he is.

"He's never done anything like this before.

"We're trying to keep strong about it, we're trying not to let it get to us too much as it's keeping us going to think he might be alright."
