HE proved to be the most popular winner of the Premiership Goal of the Month Award.

And yesterday little Jay Beatty was grinning from ear to ear as he picked up a special Golden Boot from one of his Celtic heroes, Charlie Mulgrew.

The Parkhead crowd roared its approval as Jay strode on to the pitch having won an unprecedented 97% of the votes.

He scored the top award for his penalty against Hamilton at half-time last month.

Jay, who has Down's Syndrome, challenged players like Mikael Lustig and David Goodwillie for the trophy.

The11-year-old, from Lurgan, in Northern Ireland, hit the back of the net at half-time at Celtic's victory over Hamilton Academical last month.

His effort went viral on social media and saw him put forward for January's award.

Yesterday, ahead of Celtic's 4-0 success against Aberdeen, Jay also took a penalty against Celtic Development Squad goalkeeper, Leo Fasan, and scored.

In February Jay travelled to Barcelona to collect a special award that celebrated the friendship forged with his hero Samaras.

The youngster had made headlines when the former Celtic striker pulled him from the crowd to celebrate the club's Scottish Premiership title win last year.

At the award ceremony the president of Barcelona asked Jay in front of the audience to be his guest at the Nou Camp to meet more of the players.

But Jay turned him down, saying Celtic were to play Partick Thistle and he had to be home to watch it on television.
