MSPs, trade union leaders and charities have called on the Chancellor to scrap the 'bedroom tax', due to be introduced in the UK next month as part of welfare reforms.
It is claimed about 80% of those affected by the new under-occupany rule are disabled people. The letter says an exemption for disabled children does not go far enough.
SNP, Green and independent MSPs, including several from Glasgow and west Scotland, signed a letter telling George Osborne the move would hit the poorest and most vulnerable people in society.
Age Scotland and the Scottish Disability Forum also signed the letter.
It warned that the concessions announced this week for families with disabled children did not go far enough and demanded action in next week's Budget next week.
