THE finishing touches are being added to the tree as the city prepares for Glasgow Loves Christmas.
Glasgow's annual festive celebrations officially begin on Sunday, with the Christmas Lights Switch-on.
Lord Provost Sadie Docherty took to a cherry-picker to help decorate the magnificent tree that will sparkle its way through the winter holiday.
Mrs Docherty said: "Glasgow's Christmas Lights Switch-On is a favourite occasion in the city.
"The entertainment this year is very exciting and I can't wait to be a part of what is always a fantastic celebration."
The Lord Provost joined Gordon Bell, from Northern Lights, to help set up the giant Christmas tree in George Square.
She will also be there to help as one youngster enjoys the honour of switching on the lights in front of more than 12,000 people.
The theme for the evening is The Ghost of Christmas Parties Past, and classic Christmas anthems from through the decades will played out across the square.
Demand for one of the city's favourite annual events reached a record high this year, with over 50,000 people applying for tickets.
Gates for the event open at 5pm, with live music from the 20-piece Glasgow-based Cosmopolitan Big Band.
STV Riverside Show presenters David Farrell and Jennifer Reoch will host the event with the UK Theatre School.
