MANAGERS at the country's biggest office complex are offering electric charge points for hybrid car drivers.

Skypark, which overlooks the Clyde in Glasgow, is the first city business park in Scotland to cater for staff and visitors who drive a new generation of vehicles not reliant on diesel or petrol.

Two electric charge points have been installed at the Finnieston complex where nearly 3700 people work in offices, retail and studio accommodation in six buildings.

The introduction of the charge points are part of the Scottish Government's ChargePlace Scotland initiative and the work has been carried out by Skypark in partner-ship with fleet managers Fleet Alliance.

The service to the Clydeside workforce and business visitors is free with running costs met by Fleet Alliance in a partnership involving Skypark and the Harry Fairbairn BMW business, which stocks electric cars.

Skypark's asset manager Angela Higgins said: "We support many alternative modes of travel to work and regularly hold cycle and travel planning events.

"Now we are the first in-town business park to offer access to electric charging points.

"We hope that the ChargePlace initiative will encourage our businesses to consider switching to electric cars."
