MOTORISTS are facing travel misery after a city centre road crash.

The accident, understood to be involving a car and a van, happened shortly after 1pm this afternoon.

A car and a van are thought to have collided on the M8 westbound at the Fruitmarket junction.

Traffic Scotland are on the scene and drivers are asked to avoid the area if possible.

Onlookers have reported queues of slow moving traffic stretching back at least a quarter of a mile.
