GLASGOW-BASED start-up businesses have won £190,000 in a Scottish Government funding competition.
Six firms from Entrepreneurial Spark's (ESpark) 'hatchery' in the Gorbals, accounted for more than a third of the 17 businesses awarded funding via the Encouraging Dynamic Growth Entrepreneurs competition, known as Scottish EDGE.
A further two firms from ESpark's hatchery in Ayrshire were also successful.
The winning Glasgow firms were: TWM Productions Ltd; Relume; SKG Europe Ltd; Stem Cloud; Clear Returns and Eat Balanced.
Shooze with Sole, of Kilmarnock, and Glitter Beach, of Lochwinnoch, were also winners
The finalists pitched their business idea to a panel featuring some of Scotland's top business guru's including Sir Willie Haughey and Sir Tom Hunter.
The EDGE was launched in October 2012 and received more than 235 initial applications from Scotland's entrepreneur community.
ESpark, which provides free infrastructure, support and mentoring services for start-up businesses, has provided services to more than 100 entrepreneurs since it launched early last year.
