THE hunt has been launched for an army of volunteers to represent Glasgow when the Olympic Games come to the city this summer.
On July 25, the first of eight Olympic football matches will be played at Hampden Park.
And Glasgow Life is looking for sports fans to be ambassadors for the city during the tournament.
They will help ensure visiting fans enjoy their stay during the football battle for gold.
As well as having a love of sport and a desire to play a part in the Olympic, applicants should have a passion for Glasgow.
Archie Graham, the city council’s Commonwealth Games spokesman, said “This really is a once in a lifetime opportunity to be involved in the London 2012 Olympic Games when football comes to Hampden Park.
“We are looking for people to be the face of Glasgow during what will be the biggest sporting event in the city this year.
“Opportunities to be involved in an Olympic Games are few and far between so we expect interest to be very high but those who step forward will remember it for the rest of their lives.”
Glasgow Ambassadors will play a number of key roles during the Games, including welcoming visitors and fans at key transport hubs, providing guidance on the route to and from Hampden Park and providing information on key city centre tourist attractions.
They will have to be available for a minimum of three shifts between July 25 and August 3.
To be eligible they must also be either a Glasgow resident, work or study in the city or volunteer with a community or voluntary organisation in the city.
Closing date for applications is Tuesday.
Hampden Park will host a total of eight Olympic football matches with action in both the men’s and women’s competitions.
