YOUNG stars of the Commonwealth Games have released their second charity single on iTunes.

East40, which is made up of nursery, primary and secondary pupils from the East End, performed with Lulu at the Games opening ceremony party in Glasgow Green.

To coincide with the event, they released the single Let the Games Begin to raise money for UNICEF projects in Scotland and around the world.

The talented youngsters have now released a second single called Give Us a Fighting Chance written by Scott Hutchison of Scottish indie rock band Frightened Rabbit.

Proceeds from the recording will raise cash for the charity Malawi Leaders of Learning which was set up by the city council in 2011 to help improve education in both Glasgow and Malawi.

East40 performed the new song for the first time at the charity's inaugural fundraising ball a couple of weeks ago to a standing ovation.

The sale of their CD raised £50,000 at the event in the Grand Central Hotel.

During their promotion of their first single, the group performed at 10 Downing Street, were guests of honour at St James's Palace, sang Shout with Lulu outside the Houses of Parliament and toured the capital in a red, double decker bus.

The idea for the song came from two teachers at St Anne's primary school, Marie Hamilton and headteacher Louise Hamilton, who thought it would be perfect for their award-winning school choir.

Malawi Leaders of Learning shares good practice, resources and teaching expertise between the two countries to improve the quality of learning and teaching in a challenging environment.
