Club scores £750k from Lotto winner

SCOTLAND'S biggest ever lottery winner has thrown a cash lifeline to a struggling junior football club.

Colin Weir, from Largs, scooped £161 million in the EuroMillions, and has pledged £750,000 of that to his beloved Largs Thistle.

The donation not only wipes out the club's £20,000 debt, but will also pay for a new, all-weather pitch.

Colin has already pledged £100,000 to the club, who finished second bottom of the Stagecoach League Premier Division this season.

Club bosses hope the new pitch will be installed in time for next season, subject to agreement from North Ayrshire Council.

Colin, 64, and his wife Chris, won the staggering jackpot last year and have since moved into a £850,000 mansion near Largs.
