Three Clydeside businesswomen left their rivals in the shade when they dialled up a unique treble in the BT Scotland Young E-ntrepreneurs Awards in Edinburgh.
They captured three of the four awards and every one of them is under the age of 30.
The triple triumph involved Glasgow double act Lauren Anderson, of Sparklecandy, and Lucy McGonigle, of Ms Magoo, with Gourock entrepreneur Gillian Parker, of Sew Vintage, topping the lot by winning the Most Visionary award and a £1000 prize.
Gillian, 23, is the founder of Sew Vintage, a boutique which specialises in quirky clothing, shoes and accessories for men and women and also markets her own vintage retro-look womanswear, Molly Pippins.
BT Scotland director Brendan Dick said: “Gillian is a worthy winner. Not only does she have great creative talent but she has created a stunning website that is a fantastic visual showcase for her work. She is also marketing her company really well online and using her site intelligently to promote her ranges.”
Glasgow designer Lauren Anderson, 27, won the Best Website award and £750 following the launch of her jewellery boutique www.sparklecandy.co.uk, which brings together vintage glam and rock-inspired jewellery brands from around the world.
Another city winner was 26-year-old Lucy McGonigle. She launched eco-friendly domestic cleaning company Mrs Magoo after losing her job as a flight attendant. She uses only recyclable and non-toxic cleaning products and won the Most Environmentally Responsible Business award and £750. Now she’s targeting offices across Glasgow.
Mr Dick added: “All of our young entrepreneurs are demonstrating new and imaginative ways to exploit and develop applications and technologies for their individual uses and to expand their markets.”
