THE principal of Scotland's largest college is to take centre stage at National Tartan Day in Washington DC.

Paul Little will give the keynote address today to an audience of Scottish Americans in the famous United States Capitol Building.

The gathering will include Senators and Congressmen at the National Tartan Day Symposium and glittering Reception at The Capitol Atrium.

Mr Little, principal of City of Glasgow College, will use his speech to set out his vision of the role of colleges.

He plans to tell the American audience of developments at City of Glasgow College, which by 2016 will be housed in what could be one of Europe's largest college campuses.

The £228million development - a three-way merger of Central College, Glasgow Metropolitan College and Glasgow College of Nautical Studies - will have two new campuses.
