AN MSP has criticised the name chosen for a new college.
Jamie Hepburn, SNP MSP for Cumbernauld and Kilsyth, responded to the news that the merger between Cumbernauld College and Motherwell College will be known as 'New College Lanarkshire'.
He said it was a "missed opportunity" and the name did not have any real meaning for the area. The Merger Committee met earlier this week and agreed on the name, which will come into effect when the merged college is launched on November 1.
Mr Hepburn said: "I sincerely hope that this is not indicative of changes which will further remove the ties which the people of Cumbernauld have to Cumbernauld College."
