BIG-HEARTED swimming hero Ross Murdoch is trying to track down one of his youngest fans.

A young boy's letter has prompted the Commonwealth Games champion to make a plea to find the mystery five-year-old.

The 20-year-old, who powered to glory at the Games, urged his Twitter followers to help trace his fan, known only as Brian.

He posted a picture of an envelope marked "Ross Murdoch, Commonwealth Champion, Balloch" with a second class stamp attached.

The 200m breaststroke champion, from Balloch, wants to find Brian and give him a tour of his training facilities.

Ross, who started swimming when he was six on the outskirts of Glasgow, hopes he can inspire the youngster to take up the sport.

He tweeted: "Help me find five-year-old Brian who sent me this amazing letter. I'd love to meet him and show him around where I train."

Ross previously thanked Royal Mail on Twitter after the letter was delivered to his parents' home. It is postmarked from Glasgow.

Ross recently grabbed 100 metre breaststroke silver at the European Championships in Berlin.
