KIND-HEARTED pupils won £3000 for charity after taking part in a school competition.

Fourth-year pupils from Turnbull High School in Bishopbriggs were challenged to promote a local charity as part of The Youth and Philanthropy Initiative, sponsored by the Wood Family Trust.

Youngsters worked in teams to research charities and promote them in their local communities.

Three teams were picked to take part in the final and present their pitches to a panel of judges.

A group of five girls - Danielle McGarvey and Ashleigh Rutherford, both 16, and Roisin McCumesty, Clare Mc- Eleney, Cara Bradshaw and Laura McBride, all 15 - took the top prize.

Their money goes to Drumchapel Women's Aid, which supports women, children and young people to escape domestic abuse.
