POLICE are hunting two men after a 14-year-old girl was raped on a bus in a horrific ordeal.

The attack happened near Silverburn shopping centre in Pollok on the upper deck of a No57 bus.

Police said two 14-year-old girls boarded the bus at the Silverburn depot at about 10.30pm last Friday, March 22 and at first took a seat downstairs.

But one of the girls then went upstairs alone where she began talking to two men.

She was assaulted and then raped by the two men.

Police said the victim's friend then went upstairs and raised the alarm amongst some of the other passengers.

Three other passengers – two men and a woman – then rushed to the aid of the girl and her friend and the girls then left the bus two stops from Silverburn and made their way home on another bus.

Detective Constable Jackie Carroll of Greater Glasgow CID, who is dealing with the inquiry, said: "This was a very frightening experience for the young girl concerned, and thankfully she was assisted by her friend and the Good Samaritans on the bus who ensured she got home safely.

"She has been left traumatised.

"We would like to trace two men and a woman who came to her assistance, as they will have vital information which could help with our investigation.

"We know that the men responsible boarded the bus in the city centre. The men were very loud and used crude and lewd comments to passengers.

"The bus driver ejected the two men from the bus at Pollokshaws Road, near Shawlands Cross and Queen's Park, at around 12.30am.

"I would like to speak to anyone who may have been present on the bus at the time of the attack, as it is imperative we trace these men."

The attackers were described as aged between 18 and 20.

The first had a shaved head and was around 5ft 10in tall and wore a black jumper.

The second had brown spiky hair and wore a tracksuit, possibly grey, with a body warmer or jacket.

Anyone with information should call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
