Motherwell College student Amanda, 19, was found brutally murdered on waste ground in Miller Street, Hamilton, on Saturday, May 30, 1992.

Francis Auld, then 19, stood trial for Amanda's murder in November, 1992. The jury returned a not proven verdict.

In 1995 at the Court of Session in Edinburgh, Amanda's family won a £50,000 civil action against Auld.

Now an incident room has been set up at Lark-hall police station and police want anyone who can help to call them.

The officer in charge of the investigation, Detective Superintendent Alan Buchanan said: "Every day Amanda's family have to live with the knowledge that the person responsible for the murder of their daughter has never been brought to justice.

"I believe that certain people have information in relation to Amanda's murder that they are withholding, perhaps from a sense of misguided loyalty.

"I need those people to look at their consciences and think of Amanda's family and friends who have been through the worst experience imaginable in losing a loved one in the most horrific way."
