Youngsters dressed up in period costume to celebrate the launch of the Festival of Museums.

The children from Our Lady of the Mission Primary in Giffnock, donned historic costumes at the Burrell Collection in anticipation for this weekend's event.

The Festival offers a weekend of fun activities and special exhibitions at museums across Scotland.

Councillor George Redmond, chairman of Glasgow Life, said: "The Festival of Museums is a chance for everyone to enjoy some old friends as you've never seen them before and is a terrific opportunity for anyone looking to reacquaint themselves with our world class museums."
