STAFF from East Dunbartonshire who helped 97% of school leavers find training, further education or work have been shortlisted for a national award.
The education quality improvement team is in the running for an MJ Local Government Achievement Award in the childrens' services category and will find out in June if they have been successful.
The figure of 97% is the best in Scotland and has been achieved by successful partnerships with local employers, colleges, universities, employers and Skills Development Scotland.
Councillor Eric Gotts, Convener of the Council's Education Committee congratulated the team on its achievement. He said, "This team works tirelessly with young people leaving school to ensure that they have access to as many opportunities as possible and to help guide them towards an academic or vocational role that they will enjoy and that will help them towards success in their chosen career.
