Ten people will appear in court today in connection with a spate of high-value car thefts.

Four cars including a BMW X5 and an Audi Q5 have been stolen in the north-east in recent weeks.

Police said six people have been charged following an operation in Aberdeen and Inverurie on Friday.

A 17-year-old man and two men aged 21 will appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court today along with two 16-year-old girls and a woman aged 23.

Four male teenagers aged 14 to 17 will appear in connection with the separate theft of a BMW 1 Series in the Bridge of Don area on Saturday.

All five cars have since been recovered.

Detective Chief Inspector David Hadden said: "As a result of ongoing operations in the north-east, a number of people have been brought into custody.

"We would like to thank members of the public for their support but would urge them to remain vigilant and think about their personal security."
