ELITE track cycling rides into Glasgow during round four of the Revolution Series.

The event takes place at the Emirates Arena and The Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, today, featuring British and International Olympic and world champions.

There are many big names headlining the event including Lizzie Armistead, British road race and Commonwealth Games champion.

Paralympic multi-champion, Dame Sarah Storey and Olympic sprint double champion Jason Kenny.

In her last competitive race before taking on the prestigious hour record, Sarah said: "I love coming to Scotland, the fans are always fantastic and the racing is always very competitive.

"I'm looking forward to getting on the track and putting on a good show for the fans.

"It will also be my last race before attempting the hour record, so I'm looking to put in a good shift on the track."

The event will be the first elite track cycling race to be held at the venue since the Commonwealth games last summer.

A British Cycling spokesman said: "It's great that high-level track racing is back at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow.

"The atmosphere at the Commonwealth Games was unique and I'm sure the crowds will once again roar on the riders this weekend."

This year, there are two Scottish teams featuring in the Elite Championship. Team Scotland and Rigmar Racers. They will be taking on the big names such as Team Sky, Madison Genesis and JLT Condor as they fight for points for the overall title.

Over the years, the series has had world famous names taking part, including Sir Chris Hoy, Sir Bradley Wiggins, Mark Cavendish MBE and multiple world record holder Francois Pervis.

Great Britain's most successful Olympian Sir Chris Hoy will be making a special appearance to meet fans and sign autographs in the velodrome's track centre lounge.
